  2. Wolves v Brighton: Pick of the statspublished at 18:14

Here are the key facts and figures before Wednesday's FA Cup fifth-round tie between Wolves and Brighton:

    • This is just the second FA Cup meeting between Wolves and Brighton, with Wolves winning a third round tie 3-2 in 1978-79.

    • Brighton have won their past three away games against Wolves in all competitions, having won just one of their previous 11 visits to Molineux before this (D7 L3).

    • Wolves are looking to reach the FA Cup quarter-final for the third time this century, previously doing so in 2002-03 and 2018-19.

    • Since promotion to the Premier League in 2017, Brighton are looking to reach the FA Cup quarter-final for the fourth time (2017-18, 2018-19 and 2022-23). They had only done so twice in their history before this (1982-83 and 1985-86).

    • Brighton's Joao Pedro has scored six goals in his past three FA Cup games. He is the joint-top scorer in this season's competition with five (first round onwards), netting a hat-trick in the fourth round against Sheffield United.

  3. De Zerbi on Mitoma injury and making 'fans happy'published at 15:33

    Nicola Pearson
    BBC Sport journalist

Roberto de Zerbi has been speaking to the media before Brighton's FA Cup fifth round tie against Wolves on Wednesday.

Here are the key lines from his news conference:

    • De Zerbi confirmed that Karou Mitoma is likely to miss the remainder of the season with a back injury and added: "It is an important problem, I think two to three months [out] but that finishes the season [for him]."

    • He also confirmed that Evan Ferguson and Joel Veltman are unavailable for Wednesday's match, while Danny Welbeck will be checked tomorrow in what is a "bad situation" for the club.

    • Asked if he was frustrated by the injury difficulties, De Zerbi said: "No I am not frustrated, it can happen in football, this situation has never changed between September and now. We [try] to work with enthusiasm and pride, try to transform the problem to opportunities like we have done until this moment. But don't worry because tomorrow we fight to try and win the game, away at Fulham and away the same in Europe against Roma too."

    • He said it is a "big opportunity" if they beat Wolves to reach the quarter final and that they "want to win and make our fans happy, make our club happy".

    • On their opponents, he said: "[They are a] very good team, playing well, they won at Chelsea and Tottenham. I watch a lot of their last games, they have clear style of play, lots of good players especially in attack, everywhere, they are competing to reach a European place in table."

    • On using disappointment from semi-final defeat on penalties last season, he said: "My focus is to play well, to keep our organisation on the pitch and to play showing character, patience, pride - our values are more important than penalties or results. To reach results we have to play as Brighton."

    • Asked about the red card Billy Gilmour received in comparison to similar challenges that didn't result in a sending off, he said: "It is a difficult to take decision in that situation. Development of football is different to what you see on TV, on TV it is totally different. I don't know the rule but if you have played football you can understand the foul of Billy Gilmour because it is part of football."

  4. 'We want Roberto to stay as long as possible'published at 10:45

Roberto de Zerbi looks onImage source, PA Media

Chief Executive Paul Barber believes Brighton have an "attractive package" for players and staff and wants manager Roberto de Zerbi to stay with the club "as long as possible".

The Italian has been linked with jobs at numerous other clubs following his appointment by the Seagulls in September 2022. In that time, De Zerbi has guided Brighton to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League, an FA Cup semi-final and the Europa League knockout phase.

Barber told BBC Radio Sussex: "We want Roberto to stay as long as possible because he's doing a great job. It's not rocket science to work out that the better someone does in a job, the more they're going to be linked with other jobs and potentially at bigger clubs that are playing in even higher-level competitions than us.

"But when we're operating in the top six or seven of the Premier League, when we're in the last 16 of the Europa League, when we're still in the FA Cup - we're operating at the highest levels of the game, so we're confident we've got an attractive package here to want to work with and stay with us.

"We've got to shed off this constant thing of 'we're a feeder club for the bigger clubs, whether it is players, coaches or staff'. We're actually doing OK. We're still humble, we're still very cognisant of where we've come from and the journey we're still on, but we've also got a lot of good things going here. I'm confident that means a lot of good people want to come here and also stay here."

  5. 'Dyche is Brighton's kryptonite'published at 10:45

The mere sound of Sean Dyche's trademark gravelly voice is enough to break Brighton fans out in a cold sweat. Why? Because the last time a Dyche-managed team lost at Amex Stadium was 2013.

Back then, the very idea of Brighton qualifying for Europe would have been totally far-fetched. And yet while Albion have climbed from the Championship to the Premier League's top six in the intervening 11 years, one constant has remained - Dyche's hold over Brighton.

Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Jose Mourinho - all have suffered at least one defeat at the Amex. But not Dyche. He is Albion's kryptonite. What else explains his Everton side winning 5-1 in Sussex last season and his relegated Burnley team triumphing 3-0 the year before?

There was something rather apt that it was two players who have done more than any others to establish Brighton in the Premier League combining to deny Dyche another win.

The two turns from Pascal Gross were beautiful before curling a pinpoint right-footed cross towards Lewis Dunk. Brighton's captain did the rest, powering a header into the one corner that the formidable Jordan Pickford could not reach.

If Albion sneak back into Europe by a single point come the end of May, the moment Gross became the leading assister in the Premier League this season and Dunk marked his 400th league appearance for the club with a goal will look pivotal.

Brighton's stadium does not currently have any statues outside it. If the club were to start, then Dunk and Gross should be one and two on the list of candidates - and not just for preventing Brighton being Dyched.

  6. 'Fantastic to have another big game to go to' - Barber on Romapublished at 08:37

Brighton players celebrate a Europa League victoryImage source, Getty Images

Brighton chief executive Paul Barber has told BBC Radio Sussex that the Seagulls' Europa League last-16 tie against Roma will be "another big tick on the supporters' journey around Europe".

Having topped a group containing Ajax, Marseille and AEK Athens, the Seagulls will play the away leg of their last-16 tie in Rome on 7 March, with the return leg at Amex Stadium a week later.

"It's a really exciting draw," said Barber. "Sitting and looking at some of the names that were in the pot, whether it was AC Milan or Leverkusen and some of the bigger European clubs, thankfully some of them we couldn't draw in that round.

"It's fantastic to have another big game to go to and a big city to visit. For our fans that have already been to Amsterdam, Athens and Marseille, it's another big tick on their journey around Europe.

"We know it's going to be a tough game, in the last 16 of the Europa League there aren't going to be any easy draws. This is a game everybody is really looking forward to."

  7. Your views on Saturday's gamepublished at 12:59 26 February

    Your views

We asked you for your thoughts on Saturday's Premier League match between Brighton and Everton.

Here are some of your comments:

    Brighton fans

Bill: At the end of the season it will be interesting to see how many points we gained from clubs in the top half of the table and how many from clubs in the bottom half.

Mick: Given the history, it was always going to be a difficult game. Always on top but unable to penetrate the massed defence. We faded as the game wore on and conceded a well taken goal. We did show more energy after the three substitutions but that was made more difficult after the Billy Gilmour dismissal. Fully deserved equaliser from Dunk who was brilliant throughout. We missed Kaoru Mitoma.

Ashley: We really found it tough to break through Everton's defence but take a point and we move on to the cup game against Wolves. Tariq Lamptey was my man of the match and yet again skipper Dunk saved us.

Guy: Brighton played well. Lots of good link-up play but we just lacked the cutting edge until Dunky powered his later header into the top corner. A well deserved point.

    Everton fans

Richard: Good defensive display again, it seems it is the only way we can play. The fourth best defence in the league but fourth from bottom - it doesn’t make sense. Oh yeah! The 10-point deduction! Give us fans our points back. It’s football, not politics.

Chis: 1-0 up against 10 men and we sat back instead of going for the kill. Typical Dyche football and got what we deserved! The loss of those two points could be vital at the end of the season.

Mark: We really need to be earning more than draws. We are difficult to beat but struggling to score enough goals to win. Goals need to become more prevalent soon.

Russ: Negative Dyche against 10 men. He does the opposite of what is needed every time.
