Three men who tried to kill a 16-year-old boy by shooting him as he rode his motorbike have been jailed.

Aiden Broadhurst, 29, Kyle Meighan, 31, and Jieh Sufyaan, 35, were convicted of attempted murder after a two-month trial.

The men, from Greater Manchester, were each jailed for 32 years.

The boy - who cannot be named for legal reasons - was riding his motorbike through Eccles and Salford when the three organised the targeted attack.

Broadhurst, Meighan and Sufyaan will serve an additional three years on licence after being found guilty following a trial at Manchester Crown Court.

CCTV showed the boy, who had picked up his girlfriend at a local convenience store on 19 March, was closely followed by the suspect motorbike, tracing his route and pulling alongside him on Station Road towards Armitage Street.

Seconds later, two shots were heard.

The boy was injured by a single gunshot wound which went through his arm and into his chest.

Following treatment for the injury in hospital, he was discharged after two days and recovered at home.

Det Ch Insp Neil Higginson said: "We hope that today's result will go some way to allowing the victim to heal and move on with his life.

"It is simply unacceptable to have people carrying guns and using these, and we will make it our life's work to ensure that these kinds of people are taken off the streets.
